Educational Consultancy
Inclusive schooling is a right not a privilege and mainstreaming must not be mistaken for inclusion. No child or young person is too disabled to be included if schools are adequately prepared for diversity, and inclusion is approached with a fundamental perspective of normative acceptance and welcome rather than tolerance. Schools need to be inclusive by design by embracing a sustainable approach. To thrive, every student must have a connection to their school and schooling, and critically, a sense of belonging.
All children and young people have a right to participate fully in society. A universally accessible education provides equity for students with disability. If we are intentional and reflective about inclusion, we enable genuine opportunities for children with disability to learn and to show their learning with genuine recognition of success.

Universal Accessible Design for Schools
Proactively designing school environments for inclusion benefits everyone. It ensures on a basic level that all children and young people can access and navigate school environments. Whether this be designing for accessibility from the outset or retrofitting following a post occupancy review, maximising the accessibility of a classroom or other school environment must be a starting point for a genuine sense of belonging and connection for students with disability.
Designing school environments that are accessible to everyone, demonstrates to students with disability that the school community values diversity and embraces inclusion as non-negotiable.
